This Midwestern-style course features grass from tee to green on each hole. Over 6,000 pine trees were planted in 1997, making this a unique southwestern course. The course also offers panoramic views of the desert and mountains, along with the Phoenix and Scottsdale skylines.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 7,078 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,044 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 596 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 137 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 477-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Raven Golf Club is # 14, a 167 yard par-3.

My number one complaint was the lack of ball mark repair. The greens were so pitted from fresh ball marks from that day's play it was difficult to put. Ball marks were so abundant my playing partner remarked that it appeared to be have "low end public course players on an above average golf course". In the end, I guess that's what happens when quality golf courses lower their prices to compete. I say raise the price, reduce the play and invest more in player education.

It was very hot but the staff went out of their way to add ice and water to the carts and make it more bearable. I was very impressed with the people at the course. Course was in fine condition.

The Raven course was in excellent condition, particularly when you factor in the time of the year.
The course is great as well as the practice facilities, which I like because I like to warm up and stretch before a round. Practice balls are included and are neatly set up on the range in nice piles next to the your practice position. The chipping area likewise has balls ready for use.
My price was great. Because I played in the heat of the summer. However I was in Phoenix recently on business and called to see if I could get in a round, but quicly changed my plans when quoted a $180 dollar fee. So what you see is my ajusted value rating. Summer at less than $40 great. The winter rate seems a bit steep. But, it is season.
Saying that, I must admit the the course is a country club type of experience, the layout and course were top drawer, and the staff from check in to cart return were all obviously trained in being attentive.

This course has a wonderful layout. The only course in the Valley with pine trees all over the course. The trees are about 10 years old. The greens are adequate, but could be easily improved by benchmarking off of Legacy Golf Resort. Speed of greens were a bit slow and bumpy. The traps are very difficult, "Danger Will Robinson, Danger." The pine frangrance and view easily altered your mind to think that you may be playing in Colorado or Northern Arizona. Unfortunately, the temperatures outside quickly reminded you that you were not in cool, high country. Doug was great to work with and Laura explained the different memberships, tournaments and events that are held at the Raven. Very nice clubhouse staff.

Played from the blacks and the layout was great. Especially liked the fact that a sprayed shot was not lost or unplayable. You could recover. Fairways were excellent and greens were good for winter golf. Staff was excellent, as well.
